What caused that deformation? I don't mean to point it out right away. They are terrific animals. I have a couple frillies myself. They are everything I expected thus far. A big aggressive monitor or tegu, to me is not a pet. Frillies are docile, and calm as long as you are gentle and respect them. Im looking forward to many great years and hopefully some breeding with my frillies in the future.

WOW, Thank you so much for educating others by raising awareness to the serious dangers of MBD.
Q. Im new to the reptile world, and have a baby beardie, I use a flourecent tube light with both uvb and uvb. (reptiglow 5.0) also i have a basking light (day lamp)150 watts with temp 34 to 35 C and another light for the cooler side of the tank which is 80 watts with a temp of 28C ( I never switch the nite lamp off)
Does this sound about right to prevent MBD ?

I had a florescent uva uvb on my lizard, i think it is the same kind you have but it wasn't enough. I had to get a mercury vapor bulb to keep the lizard from getting worse. the only thing is these bulbs aren't cheap, there around $50 and they have to be replaced every year.

o right. does he have any difficulty with climbing or anything?
worldofwaldron 3 years ago
Nope, no trouble climbing or anything else. The vet said the hump shouldn't effect his quality of life any at all and so far that seems to be true.

is the lump gone now?
worldofwaldron 3 years ago
No it will never completely go away his spine is permanently warped, but as he's getting larger its become less noticeable but its still there.
