@grazer770 No, that's not it. We already had rockets built ready to go back to the moon until a few months ago when obama canceled the program. It is simply a matter of money and motivation. I guess from a public perspective the wars in iraq and afghanistan (already with a $700 billion budget) are more important than the human exploration of space and the survival of our species.

actually, they had a lot to gain from faking the moon landings. They were in the middle of a Cold War and the space race was a tense moment. if America landed on the moon before Russia, It would show that they had superior technology to the Russians.
Idk whether it was faked or not but I feel sorry for the Europeans that worked on the project. The designers of the lunar were mostly European and then the Americans stuck their flag on the moon claiming they did it by themselves.

asking why they havent put men back on the moon, given that technolgy has advanced is a bit like asking why is there not another band like the beatles when there is more music education in schools. maybe its because they really were more talented and smarter back then and had the bravery and to do it.
