JPI, alongside the Maryland Restorative Justice Initiative, created "Blocking the Exit" to better understand the profound impact that requiring Governor approval of parole for lifers has had in Maryland. The documentary features victims, current and former legislatures, formerly incarcerated people, former corrections officials, and family of those currently affected by this broken system.
HERE I CAN RELATE TO MANY! BUT IT APPEARS THAT DURING THE 60'S,70'S 80'S AND SOME 90'S RECIEVED SENTENCES,STATING AFTER SERVING 1/4 OF THEIR TIME THEY WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE.NOT SAYING IT WILL BE HONORED.THIS SENTENCE WAS ALSO TO BE REHABILITATION FOR THESE OFFENDERS. MOST PEOPLE INCARCERATED SHOULD HAVE A SECOND CHANCE! BUT YOU HAVE YET TO TELL ME WHAT CLASSIFIES AN INMATE AS BEING REHABILITATED!! IF A INMATES HAS BEEN AN ASSET TO THE PRISON WITH NO INFRACTIONS, WHY HE'S NOT FREED(17YRS).
