  • @siddu710: Nice job finding the research!

  • @saywhat1961: Hi there! According to Dr. Gaesser, the best diets for a healthy heart and reducing risk (and treating) diabetes are high-carb, high-fiber diets. Diet books by Dean Ornish and the Pritikin Program are probably the best.

  • I would dearly like to get on the Dr. Oz show so i could set the record straight. Im orthorexic and weigh a skeletal 86 pounds. I eat carbs all the time. Clearly carbs don't cause obesity--eating too much does. I eat whole grain carbs all the time. Dr. Oz is contributing to the increase in eating disorders seen in adult women 30+. Ive written to him trying to get his attention on this issue---but my emails go ignored. I say we start a boycott of his show and maybe then he'll pay attention.

  • Anyone saying that they were addicted to pasta or french fries probably has other psychological problems. In December, I quit eating refined carbs, I had no withdrawal symptoms. I've had more trouble quitting drinking than I have not eating carbs.

I stick to whole grain carbs and always make sure to include protein with it.

  • I would like to know how else "Glenn" (sorry can't call this guy a Dr.) other than being the Grain Foods Foundation advisory board chairman benefits from people being obese? I would bet he is heavily invested in pharmaceuticals and other industries that profit from people being obese.

  • There are too many many factors and variables that you have not ruled out. For example, are they sedentary, are their eating habits hard-wired because of how their parents raised them. High carb diet is good after a good hard resistance workout but not if you are just sitting on the couch all day watching tv! You have to be careful how you explain things now these days with the population increasing its obesity rates at an alarming rate.

  • You have to be careful about which carbohydrates you say are good for you because not all of them are! Studies have shown that: "White" carbohydrates, for example, are not good for you, the chlorine dioxide used to bleach them white combines with residual protein in most of these foods to form alloxan, which I'm sure you know, is used by researchers in lab rats to induce DIABETES! So my suggesestion is people stay away from "white" carbs unless they want to get fatter!

  • You are absolutely wrong....when I was this I felt very much fit and enjoyed my life mor... Now I am 15 pounds heavy nd already feeling tired and not able to enjoy life as much , althought I am only 36...., u seriously don,t know what u r talking bou by challenging Dr oz.....book

  • @JackFook Resistance to the action of insulin to stimuate glucose transport to the skeletal muscle.Insulin resistance can cause high levels of circulating faty acids that get in the way of insulin signalling pathways in the skeletal muscle. This varies among obese people and is said it is associated with obesity and promotes the development of type 2 diabetes. Lol. But obese people are eating way over there caloric maintenance not the carbs it's everything they eat.

  • @autofill67 its better to count macros instead of bashing one. You need c/p/f for the best performance and so you dont become deficient.

  • @MrHulk6 Dude, is this guy serious? Of course, visible abs are indicative of leaness especially based upon the diet of fats and proteins. This guy is reading directly out of the dietian and nutritionists handbook which both are funded by food companies that want you to eat alot of carbs. Dr. Atkins proved this and thats why mainstream idiots didnt like him because he exposed their stupidity and lack of knowledge concerning metabolism. Every experienced and fitness professionals knows this.
