Safety of Mexico

This is a response to the over-simplified view that Mexico is involved in an internal drug war and so it is a dangerous place for tourists. I lived and worked in Mexico recently and the drug war isn't the problem for tourists. What the drug war has highlighted, in giant yellow letters, is that there is no rule of law there. Police are to avoid, by visitors and locals. If you have enough money, you make your own law. Don't expect your American or Canadian govemment to help you.

Sadly, Americans believe whatever they're told by talking heads in boxes; 9/11, "war on terror", "the economy is getting better", "Iran has nukes" (WMD's Part Deux), "cross the border and you'll be killed".
A guy named H.L Mencken summed it up best;
"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people"
Circus man PT Barnum used that line a lot. So amazing are Americans that in a 'Ask Yahoo' segment, someone asked 'what does this mean'?
Holy crap.... great job, SV!

This is a question that I have been asked a lot on emails, Is Mexico Safe to travel?? I really think that people need to use critical analysis of news as well as find other information sources. The North American Media moguls are systematically attacking Mexico's reputation and making this country look like a war zone worst than Detroit, LA, New York or Columbine!! Please check my note on the matter at our facebook page on our profile Oasishostel Puerto Vallarta.

This is my third time back in Puerto Vallarta, I absolutely love it here. I think people need to stop listening to all the nonsense and experience this incredibly beautiful and SAFE city on their own. Im staying at Oasis Hostel wwwoasishostel. com and I feel more safe here than I do back home in Seattle.

Well, Ryan needs to update his cartoon for current events. "Safety concerns prompt Princess to cancel Puerto Vallarta call". You can read it in today's USAToday Travel secion.

I love mexico!! Come and have the best fun ever! One of the best things living in mexico is that you don't really have to worry about police, if you have enough money.But dont think you need to have thousands of dollars, naah! just some 50dlls will make too happy any policeofficer. But you can party hard down here!! Have seen Skins? well thats lame! Jersey shore lame... they would have more fun if it was Cancun Shore or any mexican shore!! I can tell

This little cartoon is right, not because a place in a country is dangerous it means all the country is dangerous as well.

Thanks for the kind words. What do you mean by a real transcript? I wrote it out of frustration from not being able to do anything about the biased reporting I keep hearing from sources like Fox news.
