Do any of those "old man" type bars still exist? Every single bar around here, whether in town or in the outer neighborhoods, it's all people my age or younger. We used to hang at a couple of old man type joints, feeling like we were so cool, but I guess a bunch of other people got the idea too. 'cause they all turned into hipster 'dives'. Where do the old heads drink these days? I feel bad if we're making them sit alone in their living rooms.

Bukowski represents courage to me. He makes me feel good about what I am trying to do with my art. He says to me "keep going for it" no matter what. Fuck the galleries and the critics, you don't like my art??? good! Ignorance is bliss. I don't want approval, I don't sell out...my art is real, true...I don't make art so you'll buy it, I make it for me and if you happen to like it, then you get the message...if not ...it's ok.Bukowski didn't care and that's what so great about him.
