The local Central Coast Sky Surfers hosted a two day fly-in for hang glider and paraglider pilots at the beautiful Lake St Clair in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The location is known as Breakneck Ridge due to the rather dodgy road up to launch. The local club recently undertook a fair bit of work on the trail and it stood up well to the amount of traffic.
Lake St Clair is known as "Little Europe" and a very pretty place to fly, with lots of pilots staying at the campbroad on the lake. The thermals on this day were tight and intense with launches getting tricker as the day progressed with the strengthening breeze from over the back, I saw an opportunity for a nil wind launch and quickly got off and away.
Curt Warren of Warren Windsports ran a very well attended Thermalling Clinic with lots of good information and tips for those that inspire to fly cross country and find and work those elusive thermals.
Footage from launch kindly provided by Mitsi of Sydney Paragliding.
Thanks to the organisers, volunteers and safety officers of the Central Coast Sky Surfers for hosting a very well attended and coordinated event!
Sweet glide Andrew. Thanks for putting it together and online. :)
