Thanks for the video. I often shoot with different lenses and I often have to change lenses on location and thus cannot change the lens in a "dust-free" room. This video is awesome because I've always brought my D3s in for cleaning and it costs me 40 Euros each time. If I can DIY myself that's much better, but I've always had a fear of damaging the sensor and thus felt that allowing a trained technician to clean it is the best thing to do.

@domdog31 yeah, I tell you , my D3s had dust on the sensor within an hour of me taking it out of the box, and I had not even been outdoors with it yet.

@KENGOLDSTEINPHOTO I agree 100% - its impossible to restore to factory specs unless you replace the sensor/AA filter.
Are you able to tell me what the best solution and swabs are to use. I have a pretty damn spotty sensor on my D3s, and I've heard some solutions can dry streaky. Thanks in advance.

@housie23 I use Visible Dust brand sensor swabs and cleaning solution. The trick is to not use too much solution on the swab so that it does not dry streaky. This will happen with any brand if you use too much. Just use enough to ensure the entire swab is wet, not saturated, just wet. You don't want to put a dry swab across the sensor either

One thing that does help a bit, is to do a really thorough cleaning job, then put a lens on and don't ever take it off. Seems to have cut down on dust considerably.

@famousPhotog that will cut down dust on the sensor, but that is only helpful if you only use the one lens on that camera. If you you different lenses for different types of images, the point is mute.

Why "A Mirror Lock UP For Cleaning" option in my D3s is not highlighted, and i can't select it???

@MrMackowski You need to have more than 60% battery charge for that function to work. If you fully charge the battery, then try again, it should be highlighted.
