This is a project I did for my "Videography (VIZA643)" course. The goal of "Maroon and Out" project was to create a documentary film that informs the gay people on campus and the viewers about the experiences faced by the GLBT Aggies in Texas A&M University. Texas A&M University has been and is a conservative school. The support for gay rights had not been active, but over time this has undergone changes and people on campus are more open and are accepting this community. The goal of this documentary was to find out what GLBT Aggies go through while attending Texas A&M and also to create awareness among other members of this community who still remain "closeted", of the changes that Texas A&M GLBT community has undergone, over time. In this documentary we have included interviews with a variety of people within the campus that concentrated on the different experiences the GLBT have gone through, as a member of the Aggie family.
*Woot* Gig 'em Aggs! As a former Aggie student ( who regrettably didn't graduate from A&M) who went to A&M from '98 to '99, I was there for much of the controversy. I was there with GLBTA in the thick of it and I was out and proud to show that it WAS possible to be out and proud in Closet Station. Thank you for this video. It helps to show all the future Ags, both gay and straight, that you CAN be gay in Aggieland.
