In the days before Universal Hollywood City Walk, the Disney Corporation made a an amazing proposal to develop the 40 acres of downtown Burbank that is now Sears, Ikea, and Macys. Hard to describe, but amazing to watch, the Disney MGM Studio Backlot would have featured a waterfall parking lot with ferris wheel, unbelievable restaurants, and a Harrods of London. Disney pulled out at the last minute, worried that a park without an admission may not have been profitable. MCA/Universal who was fighting the project and planning to build Universal City Walk, was happy about that. Recorded from public access television.
Thanks for posting this. Having grown up in Burbank, and watched the land slowly being bought out by the City across from my High School, and wondering what would be built. Then one day, this proposal came up and was shown on the Cable Access channel. I was so excited about it, and recorded it on VHS! I had recently thought that I should dig it out and digitize it, but you saved me the effort!
