Yes, I think so too. Even if he did originally take his ideas from other things conceptually he really did make them his own.. Can't say that about what he produces today but when I think back on the first time I watched Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands I can't help but smile.

I suppose you're right. But whether his ideas weren't, maybe, the most original, they weren't bad. But his stuff now has gotten sloppy and seems to reek a bit of selling out.

He generally ripped off of his idea's from Goth related bands in the 70's and 80's and as soon as he ran out of ideas to take from his film career greatly suffered. If you look at his newest film its simply a rehash of what he use to do. He also butchered Dark Shadows which to some was a cult classic television series that they were hoping would be modernized.. Perhaps it was modernized though with all the stupidity going on nowadays.
