Time lapsed images of the demolition progress of the Experimental Sciences Building (ESB) at the University of Texas at Austin. June 20th - July 27th 2008.
I've been walking by this project for months. It's nice to see how the work gets done... It's so slow that in real time it always just seems like people are standing around or driving in circles.
@adcomamps, if they could have done that THEY WOULD HAVE. It would have cost a hell of a lot less, too. But they couldn't because the other buildings were way too close. Do you think they're stupid to not see such a cost-saving option, if it were even remotely possible?
This video is GREAT. I had no idea it existed until accidentally finding it this morning, which feels pretty crazy considering my office is four floors below the room where this camera was set up. Thanks so much to whomever made this.
Hope everyone got out in time. You wrecked my office! OK, ESB was a bad-vibes building. It was also one of the inner traditional buildings and certainly worth saving. Thing is, UT has a HUGE P.U.F fund from alumni donations which enables them to build without restraint. Too bad they don't have enough money to pay the people who work in those buildings. 750 of us staffers qualified for food stamps in 2003. UT actually runs a canned food drive at Xmas for starving UT staffers. Texas, gotta love it
I remember taking O Chem Lab in that building... so don't miss it =P
