  • ... a valid point , but think about it this way ...if the band is slamming but the drummer sucks then nobody is going to dance ... conversely , if the band is mediocre but the drummer has a fantastic groove , the people will dance

  • I don't think that its SOLELY up to the drummer to make people want to dance... I mean you cant listen to anything by Nat King Cole or Oscar Peterson's Trio (without drummers at all) and say that it doesn't make you want to boogie. I think all drummers should be able to contribute to making people want to dance, as well as be able to make people want to dance by themselves playing, but in the end, I think it's the excitement and energy created by the group that truly makes people want to groove.
