  • The location of the CABLESTOPS are in the perfect place. Nice engineering. I just found what I need.

  • @dcl97 Tony Martin could have saved 10sec or more if his crankset wasn’t so wide and causing all that turbulent drag. Plus, I think he wore a hole in socks from rubbing his ankles on that Dura-a__ crankset.

  • @dcl97 You’re still missing the point. The BB30 system is still 100g+ lighter in weight on the crankset. The BB30 frame is about 200g+ lighter in weight. The stiffness number looks great on paper but it’s a useless feature to help sale a bicycle frame. Saving 300g+ and not having your ankles rub your crankset logo off, now that’s priceless. I’m sure Fabian Cancellara was complaining about his sloppy crankset and the lack of stiffness w/ his BB30 as he was taking the win in the TDF prologue.

  • By narrowing the load points, you are increasing the specific load over a smaller area, which results in significantly more flex given equal stiffness. True most properly designed bb30 shells are over sized, but there are threaded shells, bb90 , bb85, etc which are similarly stiffened, and will exhibit less flex given an equal load. BB30 is a free standard. There is a reason why Cervelo, Trek, Look, Scott, Giant etc. have all rejected it. Because it’s sloppy engineering.

  • @dcl97 A true BB30 frame is reinforce in the bottom bracket to increase stiffness to prevent the so call independent test cancelation. But the BB30 20% weight loss, lower q-factor and 300% more ankle clearance is a huge advantage over the other systems (bb86, bb90 and etc.). Adding more materials to a frame to support an archaic crank system is just a gain in weight which cancels out any stiffness advantage you will gain with the longer bb shell system.

  • While the spindle on BB30 is generally stiffer, what most independent tests have shown is that the narrower placement of the bearings within the BB shell results in increased frame flex which cancels out anything gained by the larger spindle. This is why newer press fit standards such as BB86, BBright etc. Use a longer bottom bracket shell.

  • @MrJamessproule Yes, it would be a wise decision. A majority of our Orca owners are not racers. This is just a comfortable and an excellent riding bike. The technology of this bike help improves your riding speed and allows you to ride all day in comfort. It's competitively priced but still offers more advance technology than most of the bikes with its price range. If you have more questions, feel free to contact us.
