It may not be clear from the stage how hot the banjo mic is in the house mix. If he's not super-hot in the monitor mix, he may be unaware of what it sounds like out front, especially being they're outdoors. He is moving up and back a little, so I'm not sure it's really his fault. You'll also notice the mix improves as the song goes on, irrespective of his position relative to the mic. Though he's young, he's no amateur, so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

@banjoplayer17 i think he does pretty darn good. can you play the banjo as good as he does and sing at the same time hot shot banjoplayer17?

banjoplayer17 - you are correct. So many don't know how to work a microphone. Good player just missing how to work the mic.
