This is the opening song from the movie "Swing Shift." There is not a soundtrack available for this movie and the only album (to my knowledge) where this song may be heard is on Carly Simon's "Clouds in My Coffee" disk set. The movie is a good one. Rent or buy it if you have never seen it! Enjoy.

  • The movie is Swing Shift with Goldie Hawn and Ed Harris.

This movie was great and reminds us of life and the war effort.

Peter Allan wrote the words and the music for this song.

Sung by Carly Simon and simply a wonderful smokey soulful song.

A great tribute to the war years and American sacrifice to win a war for freedom.

  • Nobody Does It Better than Miss Simon.<---period

  • Love this song

  • BEAUTIFUL AND RELAXING

  • This version has a different instrumental solo than the CD Box set

    To bad it's in mono

  • Good movie....a couple of other players who later became stars: Christine Lahti (as Hazel) and Holly Hunter.

  • Lovely song, It was also played at the end luckily I recorded the film and saved it, I tried all over the place to get the sound track but to no avail why it was never release I don't know, I feel that it would have been a hit as a single, it's nice to see it up on youtube.

TY for sharing my great Aunt in London used to tell me of the raids and the shelters and being prepared for the nightime bombings.

How she knew the fastest route to the tube and watched the world disappear around her into rubble.

God I miss her and the sharing of life in London during the blitz.

May they all be dancing and having the time of their lives in some great big band ballroom in the beyond.

TY to them for saving us to be free now.

  • I love this film and this song. It reminds me of my grandparents who danced at the Ocean Park pier in Santa Monica before it was Pacific Ocean Park (which is part of the opening photos and is a mistake, that park opened in the late 1950s). Their song was "I'll Be Seeing You", I cry at the end of the film because they are both gone now.

  • @TheAdmiralshill Your so very lucky she is a true treasure and her music has provided the soundtrack to my life.

  • This song is so beautiful, I never get tired of listening to it. Peter Allen was an amazing songwriter. You never even have to see the movie, the melody and lyrics tell the whole story. Pam
