Is tht pressed foot really nessary? Cuz I don't want to spend 20 bucks on something I prob won't even need.

@hamev1001 Yeah, you certainly could! You're just going to have to make sure your panels, scraps, or what have you, are a lot wider at the bottom than they are at the top. Like, almost the equivalent of a circle skirt. And then, layering lots of scraps on top of that.... and lots of chiffon, I'd imagine! If you're wearing a petticoat underneath, that will help a lot, too. Good luck!

amazing skirt! :)
how would one go about handsewing this to elastic? just sew the scraps on to the elasticy bit?

I love it and I can't wait to try it out! I have one question- What is the point of sewing darts in the beginning since you cover that up totally in the end anyway?

thank you so much for this video! i had seen your skirt on craftster and really wanted to make my own, but i wasn't sure how to do it! totally making my own now! this is great!
Oh thank you!
Another question! Once the first layer is attached to the top piece, should I be sewing the true edges of the scraps together, or just where they overlap?

@LaPseudonym
I sew the real edges, because it's more full that way--better for twirling!

Is it absolutely necessary to have one of them fancy feet? I have a standard needle, but would hand sweing work as well?

@LaPseudonym
nah, you can do it without. just use the backstitch button a lot & you'll be fine. handstitching this is possible, but you'd need a lot of patience.

I think I may have watched this tute about eleven times, and now that I found out I own a quilting foot, I'm going to work on one tonight... thanks so much; without you, I would have never known the QF existed, and now I've been using it to patch up exaggerated holes in jeans.

@khayotikk
You are so welcome! Have fun making your skirt, I'm sure it'll turn out fantastically. & yes! I totally use my QF for darning holes before patching, it works so perfectly. :)
