Rick Burgess, of the Rick & Bubba Show, took the opportunity to speak at the memorial service for his son William Bronner Burgess (also known as Cornbread on the show). Bronner had accidentally drowned in the swimming pool at their house. Rick delivers a powerful message showing his family's strong faith in God and helps us to understand what we can do to honor his Father and his son during this earthly tragedy. This is part 1 of 3. Check out www.rickandbubba.com for more on Rick.

  • I would like to share with you a testimony of Gods love and His mercy. My daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, who my husband nicknamed "cornbread". Cornbread arrived on Jan.9 at 9:39 in the morning and at 1:30 that afternoon my daughters husband's 2 year old nephew was killed.

At his funeral my son-in-law surrendered to Jesus and so did Little Aidens father. Gods word is sure. Bronner is a warrior for Christ and so is Little Aiden What a Good GOD we serve

  • Rick, Sherry & children, Our hearts go out to you and your family during this tragic time. The Lord taught me 15 years ago that my children were really His. He only loaned them to me. He's allowed me to raise them and love them. We forget we aren't in control of anything - He controls it all. Please continue spreading His message. Cling to each other and know you have many friends praying for you in the coming days. Long time and faithful listener. We love ya'll

  • Is that Shades Mountain Baptist? Wow I grew up going to that church for ten years. War Eagle

  • We should all hope to be as strong in the face of tragedy as Rick & his family are. Rick, you are an inspiration to all Christians. I wish your family the best & will continue to pray for you! God Bless You, Rick Burgess!

  • And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,

and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."

    Revelation 21:3,4

  • Rick's testimony is an amazing picture of the love and grace God gives to us during the trials we face in life. I have a dear friend who is a Christian Radio Personality who just lost a 5 year old son in a tragic accident. I know this testimony will be a help to him.

  • He somehow drowned in their family pool. Thats all I heard in the news last year. They didnt want to discuss how it happened b/c they didnt want to blame his wife or God...they wanted to focus on the joy that Bronner had brought them and speak of God's love.

  • Rick, I listen to the show every morning and I'm thankful to God for you and the rest of the Crew for a great show that everyone can listen to without worrying about what will be said---May God continue to bless all of ya'll and hold you in HIs hands!!-----Mindi------Greensboro Al

  • When he got the call about his son he had just gotten finished speaking at a youth conference. I was at the conference and when we heard the news, the whole atmosphere just changed. I know that I have been totally changed by this expierience. I still pray for Rick and his family.

  • i was at the conference last year that he was speaking at when his son died. it was so sad. i just want to say that i am in prayer for his family. today (1-19-09) marks the one year anniversary of this tragedy

    God bless

  • his family and i go to the same church. it's tragic that his son died, but they are using that swimming pool to glorify God instead of blaming Him for what has happened. That takes faith and courage.

  • i would love to a have a downloadable version of all three parts for use in church
