I went recently...had pretty much the same experience as Charlie did...

I gave blood a month ago it was totally worth the little bit of pain to know that you're saving lives :) I was a bit nevous first and it took the nurse ages to find a vein so it hurt a bit and after i did feel a bit faint, but yeh I'm defo gunna be giving blood again! It's the best feeling knowing you've helped someone to not die :D

When I'm old enough I'll give blood. I don't have issues with needles and blood so I definitely don't have any excuse not to do it :)

I tried donating blood last year but couldn't because my blood pressure was too high since I was so nervous. I think if I had seen this video it may have made me feel a bit calmer. I'd like to give blood but I'm pretty sure I'll always be too nervous. Apparently in America we don't have a local anesthetic option either.

Yeah, people in America do donate blood a lot... Blood donations even happen at my school all the time. I've never been able to, though because I'm sixteen right now and I'm below the weight requirements, but I'll be seventeen before my senior year ends, so I hope they do the setup sometime after October.

And (I wouldn't recommend this) but I gave when I was underweight. All they did in the UK was ask me if I weighed enough, and I just said yes. Thing is, I haven't put on any weight since high school and I left 8 years ago! As long as you're physically healthy and pass the other tests I have had no problem.
