This is just a quick how-to for turning pin insulation foam into props with a stone look to them.

  • When using the wet spray technique, I'm using a piece of foam that had been painted with a laytex base. You can use various colors from white to grey to give it different looks (white marble, granite, cement). I dont use spray paint on foam without a latex base other wise it will eat through the foam. Sorry for the confusion.

  • UMMMM the music is the theme from Halloween. Seemed appropiate for a "halloween" prop. I'll be sure to get your moey back to you. Just because there is a comment section doesn't mean you HAVE to leave one. This was just a quick throw together video and not a pro shoot. Use it or dont but quit whining.

  • looks good..

  • I like the wet painting technique. Sometines I take a secondary color in a spray bottle with a little water in there then mist it over stuff to give it a rockier look. Its also a good thing for touching up old props that need a little paint.

  • @HunyKyr The music is from the Halloween movies with Michael Myers. It's very fitting for a project such as this.

  • can you make this without the creepy sound track music...its difficult to hear what the person is saying.

  • I was wondering how would you amke a graden bench with the foam and the aged look?

  • Hey there, great video! Very helpful. Music is appropriate and at a tasteful volume. I did have one question, though. You mentioned that using spray paint on an unpainted piece of foam would eat through it. So my question is, what kind of paint should we use on the unpainted foam, and how should we go about applying it.

  • Great tips! And I like your comment about the comment section- why do people feel compelled to leave negative comments? If they don't like your video, move on! I make Halloween prop/yard videos and some jackass always leaves a message like, "Not scary" or along those lines, and it's always a person who has nothing craft-related on their page. Amateurs! I appreciate the hard work you put into your craft, so thank you.

  • ive used the same process with the flame on duck tape to make it look like old leather. you have to be very light on the flame though, the stuff is kinda temperamental depending on what grade of tape you use. =]

  • @sweetnsassyntexas I can hear him perfectly. Besides, if you can't tell what he's doing just by the visual aspect, then you're not very bright.
