Advocates for International Development draws together the skills and expertise of the legal profession to combat poverty and inequality of opportunity worldwide.

A4ID provides a service to civil society and developing country governments working to further the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by facilitating the provision of free legal advice and assistance through a global network of 18,000 lawyers. A4ID also aims to raise awareness of how the law and lawyers can support the MDGs through its Education Programme, Events Programme, Working Groups and Publications.

Lawyers have a key role to play in furthering the MDGs and in supporting sustainable international development. The Law is fundamental to many aspects of society, from creating and ensuring rights to providing economic and social stability more generally. As highly skilled professionals, lawyers can do much to support the eradication of global poverty and to develop a more positive society for all.
