@ogpauly But trend, has nothing to do with the future. The future is absolutely effecting the power trains in vehicles. Ex. Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Hyundai... Turbo, Direct Injection, Lowering displacement. I dunno dude, whatever. Im just saying, I dont think the V8 will last much longer (Unless its in a GT500)
@wongmylesa well stangs have always had a moderate displacement v8 offered as the high performance model (even higher performance offered with the 427,8,9 v8's offered around the 70's in the mach 1's and gt500s) with a decent powered lower cylinder count as a lower option (the early stangs had straight 6s, the foxes had the 4 bangers, and now we have the v6s) but the trend shows that v8's are not gunna change any time soon. I'm not saying 100% but most likely
and i disagree... The 3.5 ecoboost has 365 HP, Im sure that a 3.7 could easily make about 400. Plus high MPG? Makes sense. The V8 may last another generation... Who knows?
@wongmylesa i'm pretty sure that the whole fox lineup was either the 5.0 or the 2.3 turbo. The 2.3 was shitty, but the 5.0 is still awesome. You can push gobs of power out of it. I don't think that ford will ever make their gt a v6, but the v6 will definately be an option.
@Storm7289 Uh? Point being, the mustang GT was once a 4 cylinder. I could definitely be a V6 if ford wanted it to be, Hence the fact there is no ecoboost avail for the mustang yet. Hence the fact that ford wants to ecoboost every car in its line up. hence the fact there is no 3.7 EcoBoost yet? The next GT, or equivalent. Will more then likely be a twin turbo DI V6...
@ogpauly Not in 83-88. In 88 it got the 5.0 before it was a 4.2, I believe? :O The turbo was sold as the performance model. Keep in mind, That was the worse mustang. Anyways, the mustang had a 4 cylinder with no turbo, and one with turbo.
@wongmylesa yup, a 3L V6 with forged internals, and a turbo pushing 400hp is easssssy. and more fuel efficent.
matched to an 8speed sequential gearbox and were talking serious performance. not exactly the mustang way, but a wiked combo none the less.

I think the V8 is the future for the fast cars. Not even the rich can afford to drive a big 10 cyl

@ogpauly Absolutely not, they also had a V6 and an I6. The 2.3 was the GT until the 5.0 came out.
