"Shit Men Say to Men Who Say Shit to Women on the Street" was inspired by International Anti-Street Harassment Week.

It was created by a group of women and men in NYC who believe that street harassment is wrong, and that we all have a role to play in ending it - especially us guys.

The video shows non-violent some ways that men can interrupt street harassment as it happens. (And it happens all the time. Seriously. Go check. We will wait.)

Join us by sharing this video. And the next time you witness street harassment - and you will - say some shit. Please.

You're really not gaining any ground by calling someone who's expressing herself, completely without offense, a "ridiculous, silly, nonsensical little girl"- especially not when you haven't even bothered to hear her out.

I am, because I recognise that the historical inequalities against women, like the different ones which exist against ethnic minorities and sexual minorities, that have been part of our cultures for centuries have only just started to be addressed.

Go on, tell us all about how women have it easy in today's world.

    1. I don't have a "loud mouth." You've never heard me talk.

    2. I'm telling people who feel compelled to comment on women's bodies to "shut it." If you're taking it personally, maybe the shoe fits you?

    3. Calling us "childish" doesn't make it so. People can see the whole conversation.

    4. Harrassment or "rude appeals," why defend either?

    5. You do NOT know that the majority of women don't get harassed.

6.I've been harassed, I've been courted, not the same.

    7.Examples already given.

And i go to an all girls school. I can tell you for a fact that every girl in that school has been harassed at least once (i'm being generous here. I'm sure they've had many encounters).

And then when you try to educate people about how uncomfortable, hurtful, and even scary these constant encounters are, they say things like "well why were you wearing such tight clothes. You can hardly expect them to keep their mouths shut when youre dangling that in front of them." or even that you don't respect yourself and need to cover up. So you try. But it doesn't really work. And the others just find new ways to rationalize this behavior.

And you say you don't mind people looking at you as you go running. Runners typically wear tighter clothes dont they? So how would you like it if day in day out (since you were 13) large gay men came on to you saying "nice ass baby" and "i'd tear that ass apart" or "where you going little mama" and when you ignore them or tell them to leave you alone they respond with "whatever no one wants your tiny dick anyway" and "you think youre special or something bitch?"

And idk how you generally approach women but, "nice tits" is neither a compliment and I would barely even call it a come on. I say this because I've never actually seen or heard of that sort of thing working on anyone. From the second these men open their mouths, it's apparent they don't respect us. So why respect our requests to be left alone? I'm all for men asking me out. I love it. But there is a way to go about things so that everyone's comfortable.

How about a grown man making sexual comments to an obviously underage girl? I would say that any man who makes a "bold" comment to an underage girl about her breasts is a scumbag. Listen. I'm not trying to make you completely change your views here. All I'm trying to do is get us to agree on the lowest common denominator of human decency. I've been getting harassed since i was 13. How is that at all acceptable? (And i'm still not even 18).

women do not get harassed. Some of them do. But, what happens in the majority of scenarios I see is still well within the realm of what generally could be called attempts courting. And that is never going to even lessen until women start asking men out the majority of the time.

If you want to continue this you will have to give me an example or a few examples of what you call street harassment. As it stands, I am thinking that

I do not respect you because of your manner and loud mouth way of communicating. Telling me to "shut it" is just one example of why I cannot in good conscience be courteous to you. Your perspective is still best characterized as childish. The harassment that you speak of is likely a matter of perspective that I would see as rude appeals. But, rude is not equivalent to harassment. I know the majority of
