  • nice, its really cool.

    a few questions.

are you useing duemelenove? or ardruino mega? if its not a mega then how could you possibly run all those pins? even with multiplexing i just cant see it.

and what is the amp draw when all the lights are on?

  • Diecimila actually, would run on the duemelenove or mega of course. It uses 4 A6076EA LED controller chips to get the 64 outputs to run the cube columns. So you only need 11 outputs from the arduino: 3 to control the columns through the chips, and 8 to control the planes. More information and code is on the Instructable page.

It draws a little over 1 amp with every LED lit. I used 3mm high brightness LEDs rather than super-brite LEDs to keep the amperage low.

  • Anything higher than the source voltage (5 volts) would work. The one I used is 35volts. The 330uF isn't critical either, anything larger would be fine.

  • You made digital fire!

  • great job man

  • Hi, if I don't want to create a program myself, will it work if I just upload the program you put in download to the arduino?

  • @RSS2100 im doing nearly the same as you, slightly smaller, and im on the learning curve of trying to program the thing

  • really cool! i wish i had the time and patients to make that. it must have been a bitch to sodder 512 LED's together!!

  • where I download the program to send data to the controller?

    Gestione led cube

  • very nice. thanks for the quick responce btw.
