@deiyion Many artists' lyrics from Marky Mark's era weren't just about that. Rap was once a powerful instrument to show social injustices.
Drugs and killing of course always played a role in hip hop because guns and drugs are shipped to the ghettos so that minorities can kill each other. I guess many people believe that it is a kind of 'cleaning program' by some high power organizations to get people off the streets that didn't have many chances to get educated.
