March 28th Fight Crew VS. The Swarm

On March 28th, the LA Derby Dolls season keeps right on truckin' as an established squad takes on an emerging contender. The third game of the season brings the veteran-heavy Fight Crew to the track to square off against newcomers, The Swarm.

Sporting the deepest roster of veterans in the league, and possibly the country, Fight Crew is on the rebound from a soul crushing 0-4 regular season in 2008. But Fight Crew comes into 2009 healthier, stronger and with the benefit of new leadership. In their first 2009 outing, Fight Crew took the 2008 champion Tough Cookies to double overtime and lost a squeaker of a contest by 4 points. Fight Crew is looking to even up their record at 1-1 by swatting the Swarm.

On the other side of this contest is The Swarm: the brand-new banked track team from our sister league, the San Diego Derby Dolls. The Swarm features some of the strongest skaters from SDDD's flat track squad-- including league founder - the legendary Bonnie D.Stroir. In addition to the established SDDD skaters, The Swarm has recently added two flat track titans to their roster: Trish the Dish and Ivanna S. Pankin. They showed in their initial outing that their stable of talent is coming together to form a formidable team for 2009.

You will not want to miss this as Fight Crew try to even the score and The Swarm look to show the league that they are a true contender!

lost my Derby Dolls cherry last night!

was very cool! i am now a sports fan, something i thought would never happen.

one of the swarm is a friend of my uncle's and he drove up from SD to take me to the match, and i was WAY IMPRESSED!

i will be back for sure! also stood behind a cute woman with dreads for tthe last half and i enjoyed that as well!

we missed jon doe, and i didnt even feel the loss! loved it, had mad fun, great crowd, good times! i lookforward to going again!

I think Isabelle is right: Although The Swarm might be 'out of towners' - they are part of the league and DEF proved they are worthy of some LA Derby Fan attention.

If you wanna jump on the bandwagon of a strong team that's destined to win some games this season- don't be afraid to cheer for the Swarm. You can tell everyone at the 2009 championship game that you "liked them first!"
