"Nipeleke Kwa Baba (Take Me to My Father)"
Doctor King'esi was born sometime between 1963 and 1965 in a village in the highlands of Kenya. His mother can't remember the exact year, so he's never been quite sure. She gave him the first name "Doctor" because a short time before he was born she heard an inspiring speech by a politican who had the title of Doctor. In 1967, the family moved from the highlands to the northeastern coast, near Mombassa. From a very early age Doctor was much more interested in guitar than he was with school. He taught himself how to play, and made his own guitar out of a piece of wood and some fishing strings. He eventually joined a band that performed European and American popular music in the beachside tourists hotels. There he met the Swiss woman who he ended up marrying. Every year since 1995, Doctor travels to Switzerland with his wife for three months where he performs his compositions on the streets and restaurants.
