I dought Joe's version is better than Hiatt's. I think hiatt's version has more raw power than Joe's though joe got more soul than anybody in the buisness.

Joe's version is the best. There is no one that can add 'soul' to a song like Joe with that gritty voice.

Agreed, Joe has one of the best voices in all of music... But let's give credit to the song's writer. John Hiatt's version is simply mesmerizing! It starts out slow, with John clearly singing with ernest passion. As the song build to a climax, Hiatt's voice soars and dips and holds on to notes like no tomorrow. Best of all, his voice projects a feeling of urgency that only love can produce.... He's the real deal my friends!
