I got a question for you- when you installed Compiz on openSUSE, did it automatically run when you started your computer or did you have to configure it to run automatically? I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with Compiz and it does it automatically- but I want to switch to openSUSE. Thanks!

It automatically does, you don't even need fusion-icon installed. But if for some reason it doesn't for you, find Window Manager in Personal settings and change default to compiz.
