"Mariani -Perpetuum Mobile -1970 US":

"Perpetuum Mobile",is the awesome album by MARIANI featuring Texas guitar legend ERIC JOHNSON, includes 13 trax of killer, bad-ass, mind-blowing, grooved-out, authentically trippy 70s bluesy Hendrixy heavy guitar power trio.
"Perpetuum Mobile" is the debut and only album by the band MARIANI originally recorded and released in 1970 when ERIC JOHNSON was only 15-16 years old!!!
ERIC JOHNSON that is best remembered today as a musician but the group have the name after drummer Vince Mariani.
"Perpetuum Mobile" album is further proof of the heavy guitar legacy of ERIC JOHNSON and is a rare musical glimpse into his early bluesy Hendrixy heavy guitar power trio roots.
When you listen this album you can understand why i'm talking about ERIC JOHNSON.

MEMBERS:
Eric Johnson - Electric and acoustic guitars
Jay Podolnick - Bass & vocals
Vince Mariani - Drums, percussion

  • beautiful track Have this record in vynil !

  • Wow EJ sucked at one time!!! I don't mean "sucked" because he was still awesome. But clearly back then he could not do all the crazy interval jumps, crazy fast lead runs, etc. I wonder how he went from this state of playing to the ACL level of playing?

  • Damn sounds like Jimmy Page learned how to play scales. Awesome.

  • Ultra-rare album originally released as acetate only in 1970 by Austin based psychedelic rock-blues combo featuring a 16 year old Eric Johnson, Vince Mariani and Jay Podolnick...contains two bonus tracks from a rare single 'Re-Birth Day' and 'Memories'.

  • Check out the Electromagnets stuff on youtube...amazing how much he grew musically from here (prob 15 or 16) to early 20's ('Magnets era)...some amazing playing...on the same token, check out Allan Holdsworth mid '70s with Soft Machine or Tony Williams...just incredible playing by Allan, still in his 20's

  • The reason why you can't find one is because the original had a pressing of only 99. I have seen 3 different covers of this Lp. The picture from the one above is on FANTAZIA (I have this one, 500 pressed, and I think it is a German pressing. Does anyone know if this is the original artwork?). I've seen one on AKARMA from 2001 with a different cover. Another copy is a reissue pressing of 500 with yet a different cover. The original is on SONOBEAT and I don't know what that cover looks like.

  • THIS IS BAD ASS!!!!!!!!! I have to have this album! I cant find it anywhere. I tried the link in info, it doesnt work anymore. Anyone way to help a long time EJ fan out?

  • Why did they give you thumbs down? I feel the same way! I hope I can be half as good as EJ someday, and this doesn't hurt that hope. I've been playing for around the same time you have, and though he shows plenty of skill here, it's promising to see that Eric Johnson also had to start somewhere like everyone else. :)

  • this is fucking badass long live the power trio

  • I'm 15 and I have been playing guitar for less than 2 years. I'm about at Eric's skill level in Mariani

    I'm pretty pumped, cause that's promising (:
