@powerimprint yep, check my "Lightwave render" playlist, Battlestar Galactica is also made using Lightwave... with improved CA and CA plugins (RHiggit, JimmyRig) i assume more companies will turn to LW once again... Turbulence4D is also great for flames /smoke.
I love it and yes this is timeless stuff, plus I am a converted user and love what this program and its capabilities it can do for the independent producer
Is this program still applicable to today's standards? I used to use it in the early 90's on an Amiga. I had Video Toaster 2000 and then purchased 4000, but then sold everything.

@erikalst - I used to use it, but wondered if it's still used in movies or media today. Is it? Can it be used with PC's or Mac's?

wow. I haven't seen that video in years. Some of that stuff still holds up today.
Lightwave is still competitive. It is playing catch-up in some ways, but it's still a viable platform used in major productions.
There's a trial version available if you want to get reacquainted.
