In my unwavering commitment to bring you the best video and audio quality possible, I made a second playthrough of King's Quest VII. This is a project I have been promising some of you for a long time. The video no longer has Youtube blurriness, and instead displays the glorious pixelation as actually experienced in the game. It's also amazing when you realize the music composer had actual instruments in mind when writing the music.

Just like before, I'll be clicking around on most hotspots so you can see most of what the game has to offer. This playthrough also deviates from the old one and shows alternate puzzle paths whenever possible (with a couple of exceptions), so the combination of the two shows most puzzle routes.

Generally, I use the + key to speed up the characters so we don't spend forever watching them walk across the screen. Only version 2.00b of the game has this feature.

Someone asked me to include the intro in this one. Turns out that the intro in the DOS version gives everyone a lisp. I could have audio swapped the intro to get rid of it, but I prefer making everyone listen to this one themselves.

In this path, I will not be needing the "ripped petticoat" item, so I just ignore it. If you want to see its closeup, watch the old video. But c'mon, it's just a piece of cloth!

  • The desert has such depressing music. I hated it as a kid. Not because it was bad, but because it really conveyed someone slowly dehydrating in a desert. But the place itself is pretty beautiful.

  • Oh man! I had this game as a kid, but all I could remember was the giant scorpion. I *finally* figured out that this is a King's Quest game, but having gone back and playing the first three, I'm not sure I care for the format of this one in comparison to the others. Good game, just not... uh, 'King's Questy' enough for me. lawl.

  • I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY!

Had this at my grandparents house when i was younger and couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called.

  • The cutscene intro for this game looks very Sega CD quality, but I guess that was the norm for video games at the time.
