@nagol1000 "[the Fed] s the partnership of government and corp. that allows corporations to do what they do,"
what you said is only true for a small group of banking corporations. to say that the Fed is the sole instrument that "allows corporations to do what they want" is very misleading. how would an arms corporation like Halliburton use the Fed to "get what they want"? they can't. instead they fund politicians that they control, wether its in the Pentagon, Congress, or wherever

@nagol1000 why would Chomsky not mentioning the Federal Reserve make you not like him? that is only one small piece of a much larger puzzle.
-
@nagol1000 @nagol1000 Of course Chomsky understands perfectly well that government is force, not benevolent. He has said many times all over that "states are not moral agents, they are power centres." What he is saying is that mechanisms exist for we the people to take control of governments.

@beachcomber2008 Well that was probably part of the elite's counterstrike. Chomsky sometimes talks about that Council on Foreign Relations publication where this stuff ist mentioned. If you make education expensive you lure people into the debt trap and make them obedient.

@Ichtiostega "times like the sixties"
None of the buggers ever want to see THAT time again
In the UK the Selsdon Committee planned the demolition of free tertiary education
This plan was put into effect with maximum dispatch through the seventies,
involving the scrapping of hundreds of colleges and the sacking of thousands of lecturers
Nobody remembers it now...
That was the writing on the wall

@nagol1000 sure government is run by corporations but, like Noam said, it is potentially influenceable by the public unlike corporations which are just pure tyrannies. I think Noam thinks here about times like the sixties, in which a lot of people became politicized and under those conditions, people can actually influence policy in any meaningful way and drive the institutions to their limits and (possibly) beyond.

I really liked noam until I heard this. He doesn't mention that the federal reserve is private not federal. It is the partnership of government and corp. that allows corporations to do what they do, and it's GOVERNMENT agencies like the FDA, FTC, and DEA that relentlessly disobey the constitution. I understand what he is saying but most people in Gov have been "approved" by msm/big corps, Gov hasn't respresented the people for a LONG time. Government = force, it is not benevolent.

@doston1 He has for years....that's why he is the most highly recognizable US dissident. Thank God we have him....and now youtube gets it all...I love it. Smarter than all those corporate/govt people together.

@rspawn Hillbillyness is not strong with you :D

@1844Freddy fun name to say....wow you are a product of the US
Chomsky has never defended Pol Pot. Chomsky has pointed out that several US supported genocides were far worse than that of Pol Pot. Which does not make Pol Pot a good guy, it makes the US even worse than Pol Pot.
