Gainesville's team of Miller (Tom Miller) and frog have been presenting a new 12 part video series entitled Millervision at the Shamrock Irish Pub before a live audience. Later they plan to air the series on cable TV.
The second episode, Citizen Grapski, contains two parts - the second of which is presented here (in quicktime (lower quality) format and in 10 minute segments).
The short video documentary reviews the trials and travails of citizen Charlie Grapski and his 12 month oddysey with the City of Alachua.
Following Grapski's activities from his initial arrival on Alachua's election day, when he was a candidate for the State House of Representatives, through the filing of a legal action contesting the election, his subsequent arrest by City officials for alleged wiretapping, and his arrest nearly a year later for being present at the City Commission this video exposes the misperception of Grapski and his activities that the City officials and their supporters have spun from this story.
This is a must see for anyone in Alachua, Alachua County, or Florida - as the City of Alachua faces the seemingly insurmountable pressures from the development industry which is leaving South and Central Florida in its wake and heads to the North to reconstruct the face of North Florida on the South Florida model.
Initially aired before a packed house, the Shamrock drew to a near silence at times, as Miller interviews Grapski and shows actual footage of his encounters with and arrests by Alachua's officials. Miller and frog had people unfamiliar with this story on the edge of their chairs, at times laughing, some even crying as this sordid tale that makes Carl Hiassen's novels look more like truth than fiction - as the truth in Alachua is far stranger than any fiction writer could imagine convincing people of its believability.
This is a must see. And it has relevance far beyond tiny Alachua and the State of Florida. This is about citizenship and democracy and how we are losing America.
What do you think about the "comments" of Theresa Kenyon? She supplied the video you posted the other day. And you had a long talk with her (and were admiring her daughter). How "appropriate" was her behavior?
