Yes, it's true. The power adapters that come with the iPhone 3G are being recalled. Apple claims that they have received many complaints that when the adapter is plugged in, and then pulled out, the prongs get stuck in the outlet and it is dangerous because someone might get an electrical shock. The replacements aren't being given away until October 10, 2008. You can read more about it here: http://www.macrumors.com/2008/09/19/apple-recalls-iphone-3g-usb-power-adapter/

And if you want to go directly to Apple's website about this: https://supportform.apple.com/200809/

Be safe guys!

  • You know why they stuck in? THE PRONGS ARE LITERALLY HOT GLUED IN. I have no idea what Steve was thinking. Maybe he was running out of solder and had to go for the cheapo approach. Also I believe the prongs' anchors were only 1/16th of an inch long. The new one's have longer anchors but the prong change seems pointles as mine still requires an unreal amount of force to pull it out

  • is it fixed now

  • i had to buy one of those for 30 bucks.
