I was interviewed by Juliette Powell about the significance of Symbolism in Tibetan, India and Buddhist Art while we were at the Rubin Museum of Art tonight.
One of the things I noted was that symbols are a way of connecting states of being, so that we can reconnect, when we want, often in states of mediation or concentration.
I also noted that we often need to know something of the symbolism - what it means, to fully appreciate it - however, even if you don't know the meaning of the symbol, you should still be able to connect and enjoy it - that's Art.
I want to know more. Tks J & M
