  • Why do folks use the silcone spoons - what happened to wooden spoons - healthier, more sustainable.

  • To leave the lid off while the coconut milk is simmering, or not to, the perennial question.

At the moment, the 'lids off' have it, although I have some recipes that I would otherwise trusted, that say you can leave the lid on, while simmering coconut milk.

Does anyone have a scientific answer one way or the other?

I have it on good Sri Lankan advice that you can and should (for the health of your body and your wallet) use milk - probably not as much as you would coconut milk though. I imagine you can use yoghurt. I have a Moghul recipe that uses sour cream.

  • ive just noticed. i wank over dead kittens :/

  • Pl stop posting nonsense simply it is being allowed to do so. After all somebody has taken pain to explain something for benefit of many people. Food is considered to be blessing of God. Pl mind your language and refrain yourself from non constructive comments.

  • Yep there are plenty of substitutes. Any of these work well: breast milk (from the teet of a nubile young mum); jizzum (probably going to need a few cups); toothpaste (4 multipacks, de-minted); the mid-morning sweat of a Himalayan Yak; seagull shit (Whitby shit is best); Tippex; 2 day old moistened oil of olay from Kate Moss' vaginal region; the sap from an oak tree (preferably a tree near a tramp near a pub); dulux cream emulsion in matt; crushed up styrofoam and angry spit. Hope that helps.
