Hold on, they did built at least one more Intrepid class which was at the end of season 7 in DS9, the episode with the doctor being interrogated by the Romulans and tricked by Sloane.

@bushwhack69 by when voyager was sent out the dominion war hadent broke out yet and the voyager was presumed destroyed so that would have put any plans for mass production on the shelf and besides by the time voyager made it home the war was over

@miloootic the dominion war started 1997, voyager launched 1995, enterprise e was operating for at least a year by the time first contact 1996, which means sovereign and intrepid were in service by the time the war started

@bushwhack69 sovereign wasent even made yet at the dominion war and the intrepid class was just a prototype class. the sovereign is an assult cruiser designed for combat while the intrepid is a long range multi -task vessel capable of being explorer scientific and tactical combat.

if the intrepid class starship could survive in the delta quadrant and make it back in one peice then why were they not pressed into service during the war? there are so many ships in star trek, but very few of them were shown fighting the dominion, not even the sovereign
