@johnnyM809 It's no problem, I saw in you a friendliness and openness that is rare which is why I afforded you respect. I hope you will take into account that people in your position are easily targeted by those that wish to sew scientific misniformation and propaganda, and that your search for information is thorough. Cheers.

Thank you for your replies my friend. You have certainly given me something to think
over, although my belief in God is total and absolute mainly due to my own life experiences as much as anything else. I am fascinated by the whole idea of how we came to be and why we are here inhabiting this beautiful planet. Yes, I will accept that "must" is too strong a word ! Let's be honest, none of us really know for sure how it all started. Enjoy the rest of your life, and thanks again.

@johnnyM809 I would like you to watch another video on youtube, just past the following over the '/watch?v=5...' bit at the end of the URL in the address bar and watch this video.
I know when most people ask people to watch videos the person doesn't watch it, it's only one and I hope you do, it's a very beautiful video.

@johnnyM809 And it's not as lonely as some might think, to believe that the Universe has always existed (in some form or another) I find it liberating, breath-taking and humbling. To believe that I Have been formed - life from non-life and have been given the chance of sentience by an immense, poweful force. But not by any of your deities - by existence itself.

@johnnyM809 It's referred to as the 'taxicab' fallacy in the cosmological argument, if you're familiar with it. But it essentially states that everything must have a cause (as you are) and then that that cause must be a god (as you are). But this just moves the problem a long one step. Our how lives we're in a world with this god idea, so we're trained to accept it as reasonable. Yet it is simpler to simply believe that the universe itself has always existed.

@johnnyM809 I haven't for a long time, I read the whole Bible and about two thirds of the Quran. Well I guess that's what is in your own interpretation - but it's certainly true that if one truly believed this World (in fact Universe) was placed here *for* us, and we respected that this life was but a temporaryexistence before the real fun begins one would have better cause to mistreat the World.

@johnnyM809 If i'm honest I used to feel the same way, but I would at least be happy walking away from this conversation if you would respect that 'must' is way too strong a word.
At the moment I'm coming to terms with the brute fact of existence itself - whether you believe a god exists or not, something has always existed. Accepting that something has existed forever blows a humans mind, which is why you suggest must. But i'm afraid your god doesn't answer the problem.

You clearly read your bible more than I do...good spot.
Not for a minute though does this give the human race the authority to do what it
likes to the world and all creatures in it which is what Attenborough implies in his comments.

You are talking a foreign language my friend. Something must have created life to begin with, and at the same time made male and female species of it to allow it to reproduce. The earth and the universe. It is impossible to create something from nothing and then make it come alive. Something must have made this happen to begin with. Nothing else makes any sense to me.
Evolution is based on the foundation of scientific and historical facts. Creationism is based on God Dun It.

Interesting point Attenborough makes. Genesis taught humans to dominate the land and do what they wanted to it, thereby destroying large quantities. Yet, Christian fundamentalists attack evolutionists as being without morals and having only materialistic aspirations and values (all we value, apparently, are superficial things in life) - Yet, Christians and their doctrine have caused, continued, and supported much earthly environmental destruction.
Attenborough is a great man, a superb human.
