Julia Sweeney spoke at TED in February 2006 and talked about her religious experiences including an encounter with some Mormons. Her description of Mormon beliefs sums up what most people might know and also what they might think of them.

  • Point I just made supports both the existence and no-existence of a God - if He is there, he has a sense of humour - bc no way is he watching my take on the commandments and not zapping me from a cloud lol. But a non-existent God would do just what has been happening every dirty thought and comment I post (imagine reading a post about yourself made by a person YOU CREATED saying they dont believe you exist!) - and that is nothing. Hey, its not like I dont HOPE there is more, but Im a realist lol

  • create man with the ability to sin. It would be illogical NOT to, unless He were super lame, and just wanted to create an army of lemmings. I think it would make more sense to create an army of people who were all going to surprise Him, and be their own 'choose your own adventure' story. At least then he could sit back and say 'oh, snap, wow I never thought Julia would do THAT!"...or wow, Edward totally blew my mind with that last decision he made! Lol, God would be watching us like Springer lol

  • Lol, Julia you are a funny lady. I loved your clip. Im not sure if your response comment to me was a rebuttal or a comment in agreement, but to be clear I am an atheist. I grew up Catholic, and as you might have guessed, the more I paid attention to what I was supposed to 'believe', the sillier I felt, and ultimately, my embarrassment led me to invent beliefs of my own. Anyway, my point is religion is ridiculous, but IF I were supporting the existence of a God, I think (hope) that he WOULD

  • Boy all eternity with my mom? I would never hear the end of how I was wrong.
