  • questions

did you use a brushed motor or a brushless? I want to make one using brushless motors

are gyros affected by acceleration? all I have to work with are dual axis accelerometers to measure gravity

    anyways awesome work

do you have any more details on it?

  • I was using a brushed motor for this project due to the ease of control. If you are using brushless motor, you will need a high quality ESC with fast response time.

For the gyro, it will not be affected by acceleration but the accelerometers will. You will need a combination of gyros and accelerometers in order to get the actual tilt angle. The fusion between the gyros and accelerometers is normally done with complementary filter or Kalman filter.

  • Very impressive!

Did you assembled components or did u design the gyro stabilization urself?

in first case you are worth of praise... in second you are a genius! ^_^

    The stability is very impressive!

Will you continue its development even after your Degree?

  • Thanks. I assembled the whole flying robot by using the "off-the-shelve" RC plane components and carbon fiber tube. I also design the electronics circuit and the controlling software as well.

  • what is your mayor?

  • Mechatronics Engineering

  • looks like the germans stole your idea i saw some company selling these things for like 20,000$ in germany 'microdrones' their videos are dated 2007 2008 while yours is 2006 lol

  • @kwaiweng first year i am :D University of Oradea, Romania :D

  • thats cool. is it fully autonomous. i presume it is by looking at the vid title.

what happened to the project now?

  • sell it to mindef kwaiweng, they sure make you rich. Hopefully you come up with UAV after this. Full-scale UAV with sat uplink control would be better, or even equiped with missile firing capabilities, i am sure STRIDE gonna love it.

  • Hey man

I am also looking into making a quadrotor. I was just wondering how you went about choosing the right motors and props and how to decide on having gearing and what ratio.

    thanks heaps

  • Hello salam kenal...

saya orang Indonesia. Jika tidak keberatan maukah berbagi informasi ttg Quadrorotor yg sdr buat??

Berapa biaya yg saudara habiskan utk membuat quadrorotor tsb? apakah juga menggunakan GPS? apakah sdr punya website untuk ini?

Saya kebetulan jg sendang tugas akhir berkaitan dg remote control. Terimakasih utk kesedian berbagi informasi.

  • hello.,,,

nice work. hope i can contact you for more information on this. really interested...

    thanks... :)

  • Great work. Congratulations.

  • Hi Kwaiweng,

What PID sample rate did you use in the end?

50Hz or 1Khz like the Germans are using ?

    Cheers ADI
