The first part of a six part series on why I love E.T.

This first installment compares and contrast E.T. with some of the most popular Atari games of all time, and a few games from subsequent years and more advanced systems such as Zelda.

I really loved this game as a kid. It's still challenging today. Howard Warshaw was the man.

  • I stopped watching after he compared ET to Zelda...

Seriously this guys a total dumbass.

The statement that most people hating on this game are too young to have played it is also not true.

He just pulls those facts out of his ass...

  • I see my brother's video response convinced you.

  • What do you mean?

I haven't watched any video response...

  • You should. It's the first video response posted for this video from "Swampthings". He's my brother. It's pretty funny.

  • You should watch part three of this video series. It's about the alleged "game crash"

Go on, clicky clicky clicky and watch it!

  • Zelda definitely owes more to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Adventure than it does to E.T.

E.T. isn't the worst Atari game, but it certainly isn't good, either.

  • wtf

you say like everything was ur favorate

  • what a douche

  • "ET set the standard for adventure games" wtf no it didn't if there is any atari game that did that it was fucking Swordquest.

  • i used to hate this game but the somthing happend to my atari and it would only play this game and after playing it for 2 hours i loved it

  • Badness is more than just the opinions of people now. Millions of people felt duped in 1982. A lot of people bought it and compared to other games for the console, this was garbage and unchallenging. They didn't have the internet or twitter back then so for the company to recall and for such a big backlash at the time meant buyers were pretty motivated by the game's horridness.

  • @iheartslimshady He's not directly comparing. He used Zelda as an example of a later game that scrolled from screen to screen. E.T. was one of the first games to do this. Here's the thing: I don't like E.T. as much as he does, but I do think it's hated for no reason by mostly people who've never experienced Atari 2600 let alone E.T. It's mediocre, meh, move on.

  • @tmgr100 Let's see you make a better game in just 5 weeks, with 1982 technology. Most Atari 2600 games took several months. Howard Scott Warshaw did this in 5 frickin' weeks.

  • god this game is awful were the devlopers on CRACK?

  • Though I am only 14, I was given the privilege to enjoy the Atari 2600 at the young age of 8 or 9 and I got this game immediately after I heard about it. I have tried the game multiple times with an open mind, but cannot find anything good about it. I also happen to be a huge fan of the movie E.T. but still cannot find anything remotely good about this game. In short, this game sucks.

  • @ufo5440 you have way too much time on your hands to disprove the majority, but you know what....I like the game too! And like you, I grew up playing it unlike most people who bash it down....like I didn't even know it had such bad reviews until the internet came out! Like if the game was sooo bad, like most people claim... wouldn't they let the consumer know about it in the media more back then?? Like I said, I never even heard that the game sucked ass until about 10 years later

  • Ok, I havn't even watched 10 seconds of this yet without feeling the need to comment already.... "Why I love ET for the Atari" part 1 of 6?!?!? And each one being, I take it being at least 10 minutes long?? Like holy explanation batman! Can't you cut it down? I mean, it's not politics, it's a fricken video game!! It's like why can't you just tell me why you like the game in say under 5 minutes without the 6 part saga here! lol
