Actually, they do sound pompous. And they have these ways of broadcasting that are hilarious to me. The whispering interviews. The light classical interlude music. The inability to act real. Oh my gosh,,,go ahead and bask in your pseudo intellectual, highly confident fantasy land.

You just think NPR sounds pompous because you have an inferiority complex. They're not actually talking down to you, they're talking TO you. You just may have difficulty understanding that. If you do, it's not for you; don't make it their fault.

NPR does have a leftist bias, which annoys me occassionally. But NPR rocks! While Bill Reilly is the biggest bully on Planet Earth since Hiroshima was dropped, Brit Hume has a good program that includes NPR folks, and people from the Weekly Standard.
