Crosswind Approaches into Zurich Airport

There were heavy crosswinds. 10. Feb. 2009 at rwy 28 in LSZH. Over thirty go-arounds that day, and some flights were diverted. Macedonian had four approaches after heading to Friedrichshafen D.

Why didnt they use rwy 16 or 14?

They did in the early morning. But the side winds were too strong so they moved to 28 such that the effect were not as heavy as with 14/16.
