(continued). we get back to water tower,just over the road from railway station and finally armed officers from the Civil Nuclear constabulary at nearby Sellafield turn up....two and a half hours after it had all kicked off...and armed with machine guns and pistols they do exactly the same job of holding up traffic like the old bloke had been doing most of the afternoon!!!!, up until this point there had been absolutely no armed sellafield police anywhere on foot in the immediate area. they are there for a few hours moving the tape across the road back and forth and it comes over the radio that Bird had shot himself at Boot. They then get the order to return to Sellafield and they hand over to the non armed officers.....they neednt have been there!!!!...at the same time a solitary cameraman is standing at the railway station, all the focus on the event has been centered on Whitehaven as all the media went there and missed what was happening in Seascale, the footage i have shot on this mobile phone, although of poor quality, is probably a unique record of the days event...ironically on most days in Seascale the CNC from sellafield regularly patrol the very same area in the act of "looking for terrorists"...or engaged in the other well known anti terrorist activity of "checking car tax discs" with the local plod near the Sellafield roundabout!!. then on the very day you need them, they are not there....about 5 days after this it is reported in the local area that some of the CNC are said to be dissapointed about not being alerted earlier...it is also reported that people are wanting to know why the CNC were not deployed earlier at various roads to block Birds movement.At this time you can see in the video that although cars are coming up from the bridge, none are going down...that is bacause the area around the Discovery is now a crime scene........cars are being allowed off the car park, but people have to walk down to get them, no cars are being allowed to go down the bridge area...... By comparison, many miles away in Kendal the banks have all been shut and on the streets of Kendal armed police have set up road blocks and are stopping every vehicle and asking the occupants who they are and where they are going. We decide to leave the trailer on the car park and we leave the ride on mower in someones garden..we will pick them up the next day...we head up the Gosforth hill and next to the Red Admiral pub, by an open gateway, lies the farmers dead body, covered by a tarpaulin,and in Egremont the bridge is taped off and a body lies on the far approach....a week later, preperations are being made for the funerals of all the victims, the press and TV moves on, it is now old news...Prime Minister Cameron visits "Cumbria"..but only goes to the Workington Police HQ, Whitehaven hospital and the town of Whitehaven...nowhere else..at the time of writing this, at least 400 plus people have attended the Red Admiral farmers funeral in Gosforth...back at HQ we are offered "councilling" if we need it!!!, at Seascale and other places, memorial services are held and at Seascale,on the grass at the foreshore,a wooden cross is planted..we turn down the councilling....in about a weeks time we will be back in Seascale cutting the roadside verges again, when we get to the foreshore the cross will be just another obstacle for me to strim around....and thats how we get on with it....by carrying on. Today, June 11, 2010, Prince Charles visited Cumbria...but only went to Whitehaven.
