@AngelWillGetYouBitch - Yes, scary times ahead for us all. Just watching it unfold is stressful enough.

@AngelWillGetYouBitch - I see what you're saying, but it comes down to the fact that they were promised. Maybe moving forward we should rethink that model, but when you've been paying into something, and it was part of your job benefit package, when retirement comes, it should be yours.
Businesses are held to their contracts, why not government?

@burchish - They might buy munis. There's just no end in sight.

@Blinkazoid - True, always research, especially if you're talking cable news.
I take it back, I do want to bury my head in the sand, or maybe find a bigger rock to crawl under. lol ;)

@Pippilly - I don't know what they do, but regardless of what some think of city pensions, these people planned and counted on that money to be there.
The city should share the pain, spread it out among everyone.

I didn't know that. You have to wonder what the "real" stories are if the media only covered it. How scary it must be for the retired. What do they do?
My grandfather is one of the retirees that your speaking of. What a sad sad way to run a city taking away money they put in all while giving the mayor an unreal amount of money in a "raise". And yet nothing has been done what is this country coming to?
