OnLive is an on-demand video game platform. It was announced at the Game Developers Conference.[1] The service is a gaming equivalent of cloud computing: the game is synchronized, rendered, and stored on a remote server and delivered online. The service was announced to be compatible with any Intel based Mac running OS X or Windows PC running XP or Vista[2] A low-end computer, as long as it can play video, may be used to play any kind of game since the game is computed on the OnLive server. For that reason, the service is being seen as a strong competitor for the console market.[3][4] Thus, Engadget states that "AIM connections of 1.5 Mbit/s dial the image quality down to Wii levels while 4-5 Mbit/s connection is required for HD resolution".

It was announced that Electronic Arts, Take-Two, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Atari, Codemasters, THQ, Warner Bros., 2D Boy and Eidos Interactive have signed up to have their games available on the service.[5] Sixteen game titles are currently available from the OnLive service.[6] The service is currently in closed beta with plans to have an open beta during the summer of 2009. The service is planned for release in the winter of 2009.[7][8]

  • @kale870 It's $8 for a 5 day rental

  • @BionicUnicorn77 Well, it's about a $4.95 monthly fee, and then you have to pay for the games (I don't think they are as high as retail price though) and probably around $5 for a (five day I think) rental. I don't know the prices exactly because I don't have a fast enough internet speed yet, but these are probably good estimations.

  • @BionicUnicorn77 im not sure but its between $5 and $10 a month

  • Whats the point if the games it gots i can get on my xbox?
