@themaskobscure Tease, satire, playfulness, social commentary, glamor and awareness of the areas of one's body that a performer reveals to the audience are all critical elements in a burlesque style dance, especially in the neo-burlesque world. Miss Jakes considers herself a belly dancer and not a stripteaser or burlesque performer (which is wonderful, I love belly dancers.) Perhaps you should do some research and read a book about burlesque instead of the copying the dictionary.
@Ysaria90 I acutally just found it! Thanks for the heads up though. It's awesome that they would do this and then give it away for free. I'm a HUGE Arvo Part fan so I stand by the original but that doesn't mean I don't adore this as well. I really hope Arvo Part actually knows this exists though. I wonder what he'd think...
@siobhan666 Actually, on second thought, I did it for you; "Burlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works, or by ludicrous treatment of their subjects. The word derives from the Italian burlesco, which itself derives from the Italian burla – a joke, ridicule or mockery."
@PoisonViolette A good fan dance is never generic, regardless of if it is in a burlesque or bellydance context. I saw no movements here that I haven't seen in burlesque acts. I wasn't implying that she wanted to tease or wanted to make this performance a burlesque act, just that this is indeed not a burlesque act.
@MegaNickyRose I realize that, I was just pointing out the difference between this as a tribal fusion piece and a burlesque act as some people stated their confusion in the comments. I didn't mean that it isn't a good performance, just that it isn't burlesque.
I am a burlesque performer myself, yet I consider this a superb fan dance, even if there is "no tease". She does not want to tease, and she does not want to make it a burlesque performance, it´s not like she tried, but didn´t manage. One reason why I enjoy this dance is because it is different to generic burlesque fan dances and the moves which we´ve all seen so often.

@siobhan666 What a witless cunt you are. Tease is not the backbone of burlesque, do some research.

@siobhan666 That's how it's supposed to be.

@MyLifesAngel101 It's not supposed to be, It's a fusion and supposed to be different.
