I got a phone call from a friend that an Illinois Central SD40-2 (NON-CN) was getting on the J at Leithon. I then parked myself at the tracks by my house and waited. What a sight this was! It's been seven years since I've seen a pure IC SD40-2 leading anything other than a yard train. Operation Lifesaver 6203 is in charge of the M342 today! This is something that I never thought I'd see.

Scene 1: Interstate 55 in Joliet, on the Leithon (or Western) Sub.

Scene 2: Climbing the hill in Joliet, on the Matteson (or Eastern) Sub.

Scene 3: Rolling along the Matteson (or Eastern) Sub in New Lenox.

Thank you very much for watching!

  • that was a nice rare catch.nice sounding horn too.

  • Thanks, David!

  • Try watching trains on the J betwee leithton and Aurora. BNSF unit coal trains run through on that line!

  • Yeah, I sometimes hear those BNSF trains receiving track warrants. I've never actually caught one, though.

  • good catch

  • I ended up seeing 6203 a lot during marching band practice in my freshman year of high school. Nice P5 (or whatever horn that is)!

  • an OLS unit to boot! if the made IC in n scale, that would be my prototype, i love the IC black scheme

  • I did notice the yellow front strip. At least they kept the side strips white.

Amazing catch. We get trains like that down here sometimes. Once I saw two IC units with a CN Gevo, rare stuff!

  • the lead unit wasn't online was it? all i heard was the GE. nice catch though, I remember about 5 years ago we couldn't go a week without seeing one on the C&O down here. there'd always be with a CN unit of some type on a sulphur train.

  • Damn Nick, nice stuff lately. Havn't seen an IC SD40-2 in ages!

  • Incredible.

  • Oh my god, Nick, that is just incredible! I wish that IC could make its way around here... that is RARE nowadays to see the pure IC SD40-2s on the road!

  • Hi Nik,

You got some nice videos on here. You should get a tripod. I shot alot without one and alot with...The tripod

can make a good shot Great!

I don't pay alot for tripods. I find them at yard sales for

    $5.00 or less.

Still, You got a pretty steady hand.
