There is a very nice "Special Edition" of the TV series "Nonni und Manni" based on Jón Svensson's books. It was released in October 2010 and is really worth seeing, especially as it has great Bonus Material including interviews with the 2 main stars Gardar (Nonni) and Einar (Manni) and the director Agust Gudmundsson.

If you know German and would like to read a very nice article on "Nonni's Comeback" - I can recommend the very interesting book "Die kleinen Helden. Kinderbuchfiguren und ihre Vorbilder" by Dietmar Grieser (1987).

Now, 20 years later, "Nonni" is again enjoying a comeback which started by the celebrations on occasion of his 150th birthday. This year, we will commemorate his demise - Jón Svensson died 65 years ago in Cologne/Germany where he is also buried, but he is unforgettable!
